3Proverbs 13:3 He who guards his mouth preserves his life,
But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.
"guards his mouth" means to be careful about what you say, or to think carefully before speaking.
"he who opens wide his lips" is to speak a lot, rashly, or loudly, all of which reap destruction.
5In the paths of the wicked are snares and pitfalls,
but those who would preserve their life stay far from them.
pitfall: a hidden or unsuspected danger or difficulty
Proverbs 27:5-6
Open rebuke is better
Than love carefully concealed.
Proverbs 13:2 2A man shall eat well by the fruit of his mouth,
But the soul of the unfaithful feeds on violence.
TThe words we speak determine the way we live (this is eating the fruit of what we say).
