About Me

My photo
After living in Portugal for 15 years and teaching English in various capacities there, including at the University of Aveiro, I moved back to the United States in 2019. Returning for our church was the best decision we have ever made and God has been so good to us. Reading the Bible everyday and trying to keep the commandments of Jesus are my priorities, along with loving my family and all the people God has put into my life. Helping people is something I enjoy doing, and meeting the individual needs of students who want to learn English is important to me.

Mike and Molly- Parmesan Cheese

Mike and Molly- Parmesan Cheese (0:00-1:33)

Vocabulary
Kick my shoes off- take off my shoes
Stanky foot funk- the bad smell of feet
Air them out- dry them
Heating vents- the air vents in the car that produce hot and cold air
Galoshes- rubber boots that are waterproof
Compromise the dignity of uniform- make the uniform look bad
Pickle relish- a condiment used for hamburgers and hotdogs
Double shift- one shift at work usually consists of 8 hours, and a double shift is working twice this amount of time.
Romp in a flowery meadow- running through a flowery meadow implies a pleasant experience
Splashed on a couple of drops of my signature scent- put on a little of his usual cologne
Aromatic subtleties are lost on him- light smells may be difficult for him to detect or even understand
Two blocks of Parmesan cheese for feet- feet that smell like Parmesan cheese
Ten below- ten degrees below zero (very cold)
Parmesan foot lung- he is insinuating that he could develop a lung problem from breathing in the bad smell of Mike’s feet.  This is a take off from cases of “black lung” contracted by coal miners- a very serious disease.
